The Tsanakleio Hall is a beacon of culture in the heart of Komotini
In the “footsteps” of Gottingen with the Caratheodory Museum as “pioneer”.
The idea for the creation of a beacon of Culture which would be centered on the new home of the Caratheodory Museum, the Tsanakleio Hall, was presented on Monday, 18 July, by the scientific advisor of the museum, Mr. Nikos Ligeros, to the public of Komotini and the members of the Caratheodory’s Friends Association. Mr. Ligeros expressed the view that the exploitation of the historical data of Komotini must be done in a strategic way, with strategic tourism, spearheaded by culture.
In this context, the Caratheodory Museum, in its new headquarters on the second floor of the Tsanakleio Hall, “expanding” culturally in the area around it, will be able to become the first enlightening beacon of the city, called little Gottingen, after the city where Caratheodory studied and taught, in the sense that it will be a place dedicated to research, science and mathematics, just as the city was in Caratheodory’s time. The event was attended by members of the Caratheodory’s Friends Association, the Mayor of Komotini, Mr. Georgios Petridis, members of the Komotini City Council and a large number of people.
