The inauguration of the Caratheodory Museum in Komotini took place on Saturday morning, in the presence of a large crowd of people. Thrace has created a firm coherent link with the memory, as well as the physical and scientific successors of the great mathematician, through a place that can be visited by researchers and members of the broader public.

The director of the museum and president of the Caratheodory’s Friends Association, Athanasios Lipordezis, welcomed the institutions, the descendants of C. Caratheodory and the citizens, among them many mathematicians, and commented that “today, the ark of knowledge is opened’’. Inviting young scientists, lawyers and mathematicians to get to know the spirit of Caratheodory through the museum, he stated that “The time has come for the great treasure bequeathed by the Caratheodory family to all Greeks to be spent’’. ‘‘March young men and women towards the indefinable height of the sky of Science, like Stefanos, Alexandros and Constantin Caratheodory have done before you.’’
