The Caratheodory family played an important and decisive role in the Greek Revolution of 1821 and according to the president of the Caratheodory’s Friends Association, Sakis Lipordezis, there are plenty of documents and sources that prove this historical fact.

Mr Lipordezis, through the frequency of Radio Chronos 87.5 fm, talked about the initiative of the Association, which aims to highlight the contribution of the Caratheodory family during the Greek Revolution of 1821. As he stated “it is an unknown aspect of the Caratheodory family their contribution in the liberation of the country and I think that it is a great opportunity now, after 200 years that it took to become apparent, to talk about this historical fact and I am glad that there is quite a lot of interest in highlighting this cause”.

This year, the Association will be active in two thematic axes: “In general, this year we will work on two topics. One is the contribution of the Caratheodory family to the liberation of our enslaved race and the other is the spirit and body of the heroes of the Greek Revolution, for the holy faith of Christ and the freedom of Greece. These are aspects that have never been included in school textbooks.”
