The news of the death of the well-known mathematician and the true “soul” of the Caratheodory Museum filled Komotini with sadness.

The news of his death filled with sadness all those who knew him, both from his long professional career and from his contribution to the promotion of the work of the great Thracian mathematician C. Caratheodory, as well as from the creation of the museum in Komotini. His funeral will be held tomorrow at noon. Condolences are given to his family by the Mayor of Komotini. The Mayor of Komotini, Ioannis Garanis, expresses his sincere condolences on the death of Athanasios Lipordezis. In his message of condolence, the Mayor stresses the following: “Athanasios Lipordezis, our dear Sakis, was an excellent mathematician and writer from Komotini. He served his science and his city with passion. The inspirer, visionary and creator, along with the full support of the Municipal authorities, of the iconic Caratheodory Museum. A museum that is a true jewel of Komotini. His work will continue on to inspire and guide us. May his memory be eternal and his soul at rest.”
