Athanasios Lipordezis, dear to the people of Komotini and Thrace, passed away. His death caused great grief to those who were lucky enough to know him and his work. Many years ago when he was starting his very successful professional career with a small tutoring centre near the old rectorate, which he initially named “2001”, he saw ahead of his time, with students who are now in their fifth decade of life. The expansion of his business led to a change in the name of the tutoring centre, which became “2001 Milestone”. It offered endless knowledge to countless students.

In recent years, Sakis Lipordezis had spoken passionately about the Caratheodory Museum, which is now housed in Tsanakleio and is a jewel for Komotini.
