From Komotini to …Poland for Caratheodory
Sakis Lipordezis and Nikos Lygeros were in the city of Breslau, Poland, walking in the footsteps of C. Caratheodory, as representatives of the Caratheodory’s Friends Association.
More specifically, Caratheodory taught Mathematics in various academic institutions in Germany, from 1909 to 1920: Hannover, Breslau (Wroclaw in present-day Poland), Göttingen and Berlin. His reputation as a mathematician brought him into friendly and professional contact with other great counterparts of his time such as Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Schwartz, Frobenius, Schmidt, David Hilbert, Klein, etc.
